A History of Voip
Using VoIP (Voice over IP) is rapidly increasing from year to year. It is expected that by the end of 2009 there will be 256 million users of VoIP worldwide. The benefits of VoIP in terms of scale, cost and easy to use are now commonly accepted. But where did VoIP start? Who invented the VOIP? The history of VoIP extends further into the world of the Internet before most people think. The first VoIP calls where made as far back as 1973. The ability to send voice data over a digital network has been launched on the ARPANET, the forerunner of the modern Internet. He carried only voice and data between the private network of computers on the network APRPANET but the seeds of revolution sown by VOIP where these pioneers. Voip continued to develop in a small cache of computer users who have used technology to communicate with each other in a kind of geek version of CB radio. Any two computers connected on the same network can use VoIP technology, but there was no widespread adoption of technology. The first important step to VoIP that many useful services to today was the introduction of software called “Internet Phone” an American company called VocalTec. The first publicly available software f Internet Phone from VocalTec gap has been the catalyst for the explosion in the use of VOIP. VocalTec software was able to run on a PC at home and used much of the hardware as well as VoIP services used today in terms of sound cards, speakers and headphones. Although Internet Phone is an immediate commercial success, it suffered from a variety of problems.
